Assessment and suitability
Assessment considers the distribution of skin, fat and other tissues, skin elasticity, jawline definition, symmetry, health, medicines, smoking, and previous procedures. The procedure is not suitable for every patient; another plan or no intervention may be more appropriate.
Relationship to liposuction and facelift
Neck lift does not address every cause of neck contour change. The concern may relate to skin, fat, deeper tissues, or a combination. Liposuction, facelift, or another limited procedure may be discussed after examination; the procedure name does not define a fixed scope or result.
Anaesthesia
Neck lift may be performed under local or general anaesthesia depending on treatment extent, health, comfort, safety, and facility requirements. Suitability is determined after medical assessment; listing local anaesthesia does not mean it is appropriate for every patient.
Recovery
Bruising, swelling, discomfort, and return to activities vary according to surgical extent and individual healing factors. Specific instructions are provided for dressings, sleep, activity, and follow-up, and these take priority over general information.
Limitations and risks
A particular result or perfect symmetry cannot be guaranteed. Scarring, bleeding, infection, fluid collection, altered sensation, nerve injury, contour irregularity, delayed healing, and possible further treatment are discussed before a decision.
